Partner Updates: Advances in sustainability and low carbon consultancies

9 April, 2021

Sustainable Business Consultants have some brilliant news this month, that they have recently also been certified Carbon Neutral themselves. Lead consultant Suzanne Ridding has worked with Uniting Communities, Fuller Brand Communications, and Red Rock Drilling on their carbon neutral strategies, helping to increase ambition in carbon emissions tracking and reductions. Suzanne is a registered climate active consultant for Events, Organisation and Precincts. Congratulations on the achievement! See their Climate Active Statement.

Trellis Technologies combine their experience in sustainability audit and advisory services, machine learning and software programming to deliver an automated and streamlined software experience. For their customers, this means having a virtual sustainability assistant in their operations.

In 2020 Trellis was accepted as one of the first companies to be based at the globally significant technology start-up hub at Lot Fourteen in Adelaide, having been operating in sustainability audit and advisory services since 2007.

Their software-as-a-service has been behind some of Australia’s and South Australia’s leading carbon neutral certified organisations such as The Adelaide Festival, Uniting Communities, Tailor Cullity Lethlean and start-up technology incubator Stone & Chalk. Trellis intercepts and instantaneously translates financial metrics into sustainability metrics to deliver full visibility and insight into performance and spend.

Trellis Co-founder and CEO Matt Shorten says “We’re proud to be serving a national clientele from Adelaide and to be growing jobs here. Trellis has processed and interpreted transaction data representing in excess of $1.5 billion in cost and equivalent to over 5 megatonnes of CO2 emissions.”

"The company has a vision of enabling half of the worlds organisations to speed up their sustainability journey with Trellis by 2030 eying cost effectiveness, customer efficiency and an organisation wide value proposition as the drivers of growth. Trellis staff members are also registered Climate Active consultants for events and organisations"

Tandem Energy team members Rachel Brdanovic and Jack Gill have also recently become registered consultants for the Federal Government’s Climate Active program, offering support for organisations to take the carbon neutral journey. “The Tandem team provides a range of services in energy efficiency, renewable energy feasibility, implementation of solutions, training and workshops, and now carbon neutral accreditation.”

The Tandem office recently invested in an electric car, a Nissan leaf named Eucalyptus, driving down their organisation’s footprint as the South Australian electricity grid becomes increasingly powered by renewable electricity. Their recently launched “Climate Action Project” provides a series of workshops for large organisations to get thinking about climate change, create change, and set goals.
