Incentives for home solar panels and battery storage
When Terry Papadopoulous heard about the Sustainability Incentives Scheme, he worked out the cost and the time it would take for an installation of solar PV, battery storage and retrofitting LED lights to pay for itself. Financially, it made good sense to invest.
‘As I get older, I don’t want to have to worry about paying high energy bills into the future. So this was the right way to go,’ said Terry.
Terry’s 5.22 kW solar system generates approximately 21 kW hours per day which is the daily average use for a four person household in South Australia. With the ability to store up to 8.8 kWh for night and morning use, he is well on the way to being cost neutral.
‘And this technology is pretty smart stuff. I can jump on to my computer and with a click can see exactly how much energy I’m generating,’ he said.
Switching to renewable energy also means Terry is playing his part in contributing to a carbon neutral Adelaide.
