New Adelaide Botanic High School

MAY 2017 A new secondary school is being built in Adelaide that will help reduce the city’s carbon emissions.

The $100 million project is due to open in 2019 and will contribute to Carbon Neutral Adelaide by being focused on environmental sustainability. Smart, environmentally friendly buildings will minimise energy and water use. Taking a ‘passive design’ approach, the new school will harness the external climate to maintain a comfortable temperature indoors and drought tolerant plants will be used to landscape the gardens. The new school will also focus on reducing emissions by promoting green, active travel for students and teachers with its location and connection to a large walking, cycling and public transport network.
