The People’s Grid helps communities build sustainable energy grids powered by the community.

Why The People's Grid is supporting Carbon Neutral Adelaide

The People’s Grid helps to power communities, by the community. The South Australian electricity grid is evolving. Previously powered by large coal and gas plants, rooftop solar can now power individual homes and business and, at certain times of the day, export surplus energy back to the grid.

The People’s grid has a vision to connect thousands of rooftop solar systems from homes and business and create a virtual power generator, which they call “energy powered by us”.

The People’s Grid enables groups to create sustainable energy grids powered by their own community as well as other renewable energy producers like solar farms, wind, and biogas.

What The People's Grid is doing to reduce carbon emissions

The People’s Grid uses a 'proprietary matching algorithm' to match electricity back to the source. Energy demand is matched to renewable generators including rooftop solar every 5 minutes which means customers aren’t needing to buy offsets to source 100% renewables. The People’s Grid provides reporting and transparency to make it easier for communities to switch to renewables. Groups of customers can build their own renewables projects and sell back to their community.
