What Sustainability House (SuHo) is doing to reduce carbon emissions
SUHO fosters and encourages environmental sustainability practices in the office that include offsetting travel emissions, extensive cyclist facilities, recycling and composting systems and water efficient fixtures. SUHO recently won a national award for designing a 10 Star residential dwelling called Paradigm Shift. The design promotes a change in the approach to housing typology, responds to market demand for aesthetics and generous proportions, while achieving innovative passive design strategies and affordability. The dwelling has no heating or cooling, demonstrating that passive design strategies coupled with material specification can maintain thermal comfort between 18-24 degrees for 91% of the year. SUHO is now embarking on a 10 Star build to demonstrate that thermally comfortable and energy efficient housing can be attainable on any budget.
