Nature Foundation SA’s vision is to see nature thriving and loved by all. Nature Foundation SA is focused on the reduction of carbon emissions because carbon is contributing to the rapidly changing climate that is impacting the natural environment, individuals, society and the economy.
Nature Foundation SA is partnering with Carbon Neutral Adelaide and the like-minded people, businesses, governments and organisations collectively playing a part in reducing and offsetting carbon emissions. Nature Foundation SA believes that if each of us acts, this will result in many initiatives that collectively make a huge difference.
Nature Foundation SA’s purpose is to conserve and protect nature. Nature Foundation SA is actively increasing the area of South Australia’s natural landscape that is protected and restored, with many areas of land then transferred to the National Parks system for flora and fauna conservation and for people to visit and enjoy. This has totalled over one million hectares to date, meaning that Nature Foundation SA is also facilitating significant carbon sequestration via the native vegetation on these properties.
Nature Foundation SA is also a producer of carbon credits for partners wishing to offset their carbon footprints, through the protection of native vegetation and the watering of wetlands along the iconic River Murray, which acts as a carbon sink.
Nature Foundation SA actively reduces its own emissions through replacing diesel power with solar on nature reserves and adopting sustainable practices within its offices.
Nature Foundation SA also seeks to influence its members, supporters, business partners, sponsors, volunteers, governments and the wider community to be more sustainable.
