Lucid Consulting is a multi-discipline engineering firm founded in South Australia in 2000 with a head office located in the heart of the Adelaide CBD. Today Lucid Consulting employs more than 160 staff located in offices in Adelaide, Darwin, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and Canberra. Lucid Consulting supports Carbon Neutral Adelaide, believing it presents an opportunity to establish Adelaide as an international leader for others to follow and to create a legacy for future generations to look upon with great pride and appreciation. Lucid Consulting firmly believes that successful outcomes for this ambitious strategy will be underpinned by leadership and industry collaboration, and will contribute to its success by reducing emissions from operations, clients’ projects and by providing education and awareness via community programs.
What Lucid Consulting is doing to reduce carbon emissions
Within Lucid Consulting’s operations, carbon emissions are being reduced through:
- An efficient office fit-out design and the active management of energy to achieve a 5 star NABERS tenancy rating
- Energy efficient procurement
- Investment in technology, software and systems to drastically reduce paper use
- Waste sent to landfill reduced through recycling and reduction in paper use
- End of trip facilities provided for staff to cycle to work
- Encouraging staff to use public transport to and from work, walking to project sites within the CBD and providing transport services for longer trips so that staff don’t need cars at work
- Encouraging environmentally responsible behaviours in the office
- Providing an office space that improves the health and well-being of staff with access to high quality external views, high levels of natural daylights and indoor greenery.
To help reduce emissions from clients’ projects, Lucid Consulting has:
- Invested in research and training to develop a dedicated sustainability team to actively promote energy efficiency and renewable energy technology and help clients apply technologies to construction developments and existing assets
- Actively managed the energy performance and building tuning to achieve high performance energy ratings
- Promoted energy efficient and low carbon technologies, plant, equipment and systems suitable for the property and construction industry, many of which are manufactured or supported from local businesses
- Collaborated with project teams, partners and wider supply chains to ensure that knowledge, applied innovation and carbon reduction techniques remain at the forefront of industry leadership
- Promoted holistic sustainable principles, providing alignment with programs such as Carbon Neutral Adelaide.
Lucid Consulting is also reducing emissions through community programs including:
- Guest lectures and talks at universities and schools to educate students and promote the principles of sustainability, energy efficiency and renewable energy
- Participating in and supporting sustainability events arranged through various institutions and government bodies
- Participating in and supporting Adelaide’s Climate-KIC Climathon and Energy Efficiency Expo
- Committing to the CitySwitch Green Office program and further reducing the carbon footprint.
