What Hatch is doing to reduce carbon emissions

Hatch recognises that climate change is largely caused by human activity and hinders the vision of a sustainable future by negatively affecting natural ecosystems, economic returns, and community development. They believe the resolution of this complex global problem will require multiple simultaneous strategies. As a company actively participating in the metals, energy and infrastructure sectors, Hatch feels obligated to affect positive change on this issue as it is amongst the toughest challenges of our era and is well-positioned to do so.

Hatch aspires to apply technical and business knowledge to designing and building practical, safe, and innovative solutions to combat climate change. They take a scientific, evidence-based approach to pursue the twin goals of:

    • Reducing the release into, and ultimately the presence of greenhouse gases in our atmosphere
    • Adapting our built and natural environments for climate change impacts
    • Avoidance of carbon combustion including the reduction in demand for energy and products requiring carbon
    • Improvement of society’s resilience to the earth’s changing climate.

Their project work includes carbon and energy reduction strategy in global resource extraction, large scale solar generation, engineering services for Green Hydrogen, and energy management information systems.

Hatch intends to incorporate the following strategies in their work, over the transition period away from carbon:

    • Avoidance of carbon combustion including the reduction in demand for energy and products requiring carbon
    • Improvement of society’s resilience to the earth’s changing climate.
    • Reduction of CO2 generated by improving the efficient use of carbon
    • Removal and sequestration of greenhouse gases from our atmosphere
