Why dsquared is supporting Carbon Neutral Adelaide

As a specialist ESD consultancy, the Carbon Neutral Adelaide program is directly aligned with dsquared’s vision and values for creating a more sustainable future which mitigates and is resilient to climate change. Key to this is reducing carbon emissions and achieving carbon neutrality, and it is only through collective action that we can achieve this outcome.

To support this, dsquared have been reducing their own emissions and working with clients to create more sustainable spaces, places and communities.

They are a certified Climate Active Carbon Neutral Organisation, inaugural and active members of the City Switch and Carbon Neutral Adelaide Partners programmes and in 2019 became a City of Adelaide Carbon Neutral Ambassadors.

What dsquared is doing to reduce carbon emissions

dsquared works with a wide range of clients, including local and state government, private and non-for-profit organisations, to reduce their environmental impacts and carbon emissions. They are working towards a net zero transition by, supporting projects and organisations to take advantage of South Australia’s world leading renewable energy resources and action on climate change. This includes transitioning major projects to all-electric, maximising building performance, undertaking climate change impact assessments, developing carbon neutral and emission reduction plans, and supporting other organisations in becoming certified carbon neutral.

dsquared directors, Deborah Davidson and Paul Davy, have over 40 years of experience in the built environment and are supported by an interdisciplinary team of sustainability experts.

The company believes they they need to demonstrate commitment to sustainability through their own practice, and have implemented a range of initiatives including:

  • Maintaining Climate Active Carbon Neutral certification since 2017
  • Maintaining a 6 Star NABERS Energy rating, the highest possible
  • Implementing a certified ISO 14001 Environmental Management System
  • Installing on site solar PV to reduce grid electricity consumption
  • Installing energy efficiency lighting with daylight and motion sensors
  • Reducing waste to landfill, with a 90% diversion rate achieved and less than one 240L wheelie bin of landfill waste generated per year
  • Supporting sustainable and active transport for staff commute

dsquared has achieved the following recognition:
