Climate-KIC Australia is a Knowledge Innovation Community (KIC) to catalyse a national response to climate change and the global-scale opportunities it presents. Climate-KIC Australia builds links between the research community, government and commercial opportunity, linking ideas, commercial know-how and investment capital via a proven model from the European Union. The initial focus for Climate-KIC Australia is net-zero carbon energy, sustainable resilient cities and regions in transition. Climate-KIC Australia supports Carbon Neutral Adelaide and the development and uptake of renewable and clean technologies through accelerating entrepreneurship in innovation via extensive funding, coaching and skill development programs.
In partnership with the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources and other project partners, Climate-KIC Australia will coordinate the Carbon Neutral Market Precinct Project to accelerate the expertise and best practice needed to transition cities to zero-carbon living. The Carbon Neutral Market Precinct will be a showcase demonstration site with a particular focus on trialling pilot projects, documenting lessons learnt and creating networks with a view for the greater Carbon Neutral Adelaide ambition.
