Cafe Troppo is dedicated to sustainability and community. It is a space where everything is sourced and created consciously and locally to connect people with their environment, with the seasons, with the food, with the nature, with the city and its cultures.
The café’s mission is to provide food, coffee and a community space that does not impact negatively on its environment. Café Troppo is aiming to be a carbon neutral and zero waste business and wants the broader Adelaide community to do the same. The café supports Carbon Neutral Adelaide in bringing businesses together, instigating change and raising awareness of sustainability and a positive future.
All products are sourced locally from South Australia and when working with suppliers, Café Troppo supports local businesses that share the vision for low environmental impact. The café’s own gardener grows organically and delivers by bicycle. As much waste as possible is recycled with continual improvements introduced with the aim of becoming a zero waste business. All organics are picked up and taken to a composting facility, soft plastics are recycled, other recyclables and cardboard are picked up and recycled similarly. Only plant-based chemicals are used to avoid negative impacts to waterways, and all packaging is compostable and plant-based. All decisions in the business are made with sustainability in mind and reducing environmental impact.
