What Aurecon is doing to reduce carbon emissions

Aurecon is committed to the principles of sustainable development, meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. Sustainability is embedded into Aurecon’s culture, skills and deliverables by:

  • helping clients, partners and stakeholders to meet their sustainability commitments
  • incorporating sustainability considerations into services and project deliverables
  • continually increasing sustainability knowledge, skills and tools
  • incorporating sustainability into corporate values
  • exploring innovative ways of reducing the footprint of operations
  • contributing to the future of sustainability disclosure by reporting performance under the Global Reporting Initiative.

As a leading global engineering consultant, Aurecon has significant engineering expertise in the following areas:

  • built environment including natural daylighting, ventilation, high performance facades and more
  • renewable energy including photovoltaics, solar thermal, wind power and expanding knowledge in other renewables
  • integrated water management
  • integrated waste management
  • sustainability assessments.

A recent example of Aurecon’s sustainability expertise is the fit-out for the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources at 81 Waymouth Street, Adelaide which was the first project of its kind in Australia to receive a 6 Star Green Star Interiors rating after the first assessment.

The carbon footprint of Aurecon’s own facilities is reduced by applying greener building practices and through the use of sustainable transport. Initiatives have included energy-efficient light fittings, high performance glass to maximise natural lighting whilst minimising heat gain, and heating ventilation and air conditioning systems that incorporate efficient chillers and demand controlled ventilation.
