At atomix the team cares deeply about the future of the planet and have participated in several conservation projects over the last few years. The company is committed and passionate about reducing the impacts of climate change and are currently working on initiatives aimed to help other businesses work towards a carbon positive future and reducing waste. Being a Carbon Neutral Adelaide Partner is a natural fit, as it supports atomix’s social innovation values that ‘we are better working together’ and that complex problems are best solved collaboratively. They aim to learn, share knowledge and build awareness in areas such as sustainable design, social and environmental issues and the circular and social economy.
In 2018, atomix launched a Social Innovation Lab which brings together socially innovative organisations and individuals to create positive social and environmental change. The company’s commitment to reducing their overall environmental impact has included choosing and designing their North Adelaide workspace to make use of natural daylight and ventilation for energy efficiency, and extensive office greening and biophilic design with indoor plants to reduce carbon dioxide indoors and improve the overall wellbeing of the team.
The company is building employee awareness and providing them with resources to take action and reduce their overall environmental impact, including effective procedures to minimise kitchen and office waste production, promoting reuse and recycling of all electronic equipment, and changing lighting to energy‐efficient alternatives while maintaining lighting quality in work spaces. The staff are monitoring business travel and offering meeting alternatives such as video‐conferencing and avoiding purchase of non‐recyclable products such as takeaway coffee cups through adoption of a company-wide reusable cup policy.
