Community Energy Action SA has a vision for an energy future that unlocks the benefits of citizens working together to provide a clean, reliable, affordable energy system that is fair for everyone. Community Energy Action SA helps the general public and politicians understand the benefits of community energy and helps community volunteers explore the opportunities for local energy in their neighbourhoods, supporting them with skills and knowledge developed by community energy advocates around Australia. Community Energy Action SA also provides a network for the “doers” who are actively making a clean energy future happen in their communities.
What Community Energy Action SA is doing to reduce carbon emissions
Community Energy Action SA is open to anyone interested in community energy, believing that advocating together for cleaner, fairer energy systems and working in communities will bring about positive changes. Community Energy Action SA is working with South Australian communities to develop local expertise while benefiting from the interstate experience of Community Energy groups around Australia, who are using five main models to build local energy systems. Carbon Neutral Adelaide partner Citizens Own Renewable Energy Network Australia is one of the few SA community energy groups and uses a donation model. Community Energy Action SA is seeking to develop the other four models in South Australia, being investments, bulk purchasing, community led change and locally delivered energy services.
